Welcome to Year 6

Play Leaders

Report by: Meg Bray & Bryony White.
It isn’t everyday that we miss science ;but it isn’t everyday that we get the chance to practise being a play leader! (i.e. to look after the younger children)

The time: 1:15pm on the 3rd of October 2011,

           The place: the yr3 playground

The teacher: Mrs Holt from Werneth High School .

Mrs Holt showed us a large variety of fun, safe grouped games including: Duck Duck, Goose, Time Bomb, Safe Tag

Ship– themed game, Runner Bean and so much more!

We were put into groups to practise explaining simple instructions as the younger children may not understand and might get bored quickly if the instructions were long and difficult.

It was a great afternoon ; everybody in year 6 thought so .It was a really hot day but that didn't put us off ! It was a wonderful experience, on a brilliant day, at a lovely school!

In addition we think that lots of people will consider becoming a play leader. We give a humongous thanks to Mrs Holt for spending lots of time with us.

PSHCE: The story of Joseph

During anti-bullying week, Year 6 looked at  the story of Joseph and how he was bullied by his brothers because of favouritism by his father, Jacob. He was sold by his brothers who faked his death by rubbing goat’s blood  into  his coat and showing Jacob. He  was sold  to a rich pharaoh called Potiphar. His  wife seduced him and Joseph  was blamed, therefore, he  was thrown into prison!

While in prison, Joseph interpreted his dreams, and  the  word spread  to  the pharaoh. He told the pharaoh  that there would be 7 years of good followed by 7 years of drought. When the pharaoh heard of  this he  was  very impressed, consequently, he made Joseph his prime-minister. Joseph did many  things to protect the people of his kingdom and guided them through their time of need.

In class we discussed how we could prevent bullying and get rid of it.

Read  the story yourself in the bible in Genesis 37-50.

By James and Tim, Year 6.
