Romiley Primary School Brass Bands

The brass bands involve nearly half our KS2 children who receive a weekly lesson and gain access to one of the bands. The Feeder Band is made up of children with less than 12 months experience who are gaining experience in playing as a band to an audience.  Children progress from this into the Main Band where they stay until they move to high school. Our Main Band is acknowledged as one of the best primary school brass bands in the north west of England.  Under the skilful directorship of Liz Bexon – our musical director – children develop a love of music.
A careful balance between strict discipline and creativity ensures that high standards of musicianship are always maintained.  Liz Bexon has many contacts in the world of music and children, each year, have the opportunity to play in the Bridgewater Hall as guests of the Hallé orchestra and at the Royal Northern College of Music.  The band is always in high demand from local groups and organisations for their various events.

We are always proud to see some of our children go on to pursue a career in music.

School Band practises hard for the summer concerts

The school brass band is practicing hard under their conductor, Mrs Bexon. As a reward for all their hard work practicing for their summer concerts, the musicians are being treated to a concert at the Bridgewater Hall where they will listen to the Halle Orchestra.
