The school is committed to providing opportunities for each child to develop socially, morally, intellectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally to the best of their ability.

We aim to provide relevant learning experiences with sequencing, progression and continuity which enable children to meet the demands of the National Curriculum and beyond, where appropriate.

Romiley Primary School strives to demand endeavour and ensure success from every child.  We set our sights on every child leaving school each day feeling something positive has happened and ultimately moving on as hungry learners.  Every child is expected and encouraged to perform academically to the best of his or her ability.

We aspire that through friendship and loyalty children should value others and their needs.  We strive to encourage respect for all others, children and adults, property, the law and the environment.  The future well-being of society depends upon fostering a caring and responsible approach to both the community and the environment.

Our purpose is to build each child’s self-esteem, self confidence, self motivation, self discipline, self expression and independence and in so doing foster enthusiasm for new experiences.  In a rapidly changing world we wish to develop children’s critical faculties and coping strategies to deal with the unfamiliar.

How is maths taught?

Parents frequently tell us that they can't help with maths homework because the way it is taught is very different from how they were taught.

Don't despair. There is an interesting article on the BBC online magazine that goes some way to explaining the new methods>>.

Crucial Crew

This multi-agency event delivers safety education and personal risk management skills to Year 6 children (10 - 11 years old) who are becoming more independent and capable of coping on their own. It provides opportunities for children to develop PSHE skills and considers issues of safety, responsibility and citizenship. The scheme raises awareness of threats and dangers to their safety in a fun and effective way where children learn by experience.

This also formed just a very small  part of our evidence in our Healthy School Award.

Romiley Primary School has recently been successful in achieving ‘National Healthy School Status’, linking good health, behaviour and achievement through a whole school approach. The four core themes relate to both the school curriculum and the emotional and physical learning environment in school. School recently had our Altogether Healthy Week. We hope you enjoy our photographs of this fantastic week.

School Band

The school has a long musical tradition which dates back to the 1930s. In the last 15 years this tradition has been developed through our brass bands and choir.
