Romiley Primary School Governors

As we are part of Romiley Primary, we thought it would be helpful to provide you with some information about the school’s Governing Body.

There are currently 12 members on our Governing Body, including parent governors, Local Authority governors, staff governors and community governors. This full Governing Body meets at least once every term and staff, parents and interested members of the public are welcome to attend.

In addition to the full Governing Body meetings, much of the work in assisting the leadership and management of the school is done in the three committees which meet on a regular basis.
These committees are:
1. Teaching and Learning, which deals with curriculum and curriculum related issues.
2. Resources, which is concerned with finance and the premises.
3. Staffing, dealing with staffing matters, including the appointment of staff.
Each committee reviews the policies concerned with their own particular remit.
The minutes of all meetings are published and available in school for anyone who wishes to read them.
All our governors are volunteers and do not claim any travelling expenses or subsistence allowances for expenses occurred during their work as governors.
Our role is time consuming and a challenge at times, but we consider it a privilege to join with the staff in providing such an outstanding school for all the pupils at Romiley Primary.
For more information about the role and work of a school governor, please follow the link to Stockport Council’s School Governance web page.
During the 2010 / 11 academic year, the full Governing body meets at least once each term. Please contact the school office for dates of meetings
